چکیده

The angular and frequency correlation functions of the transmission coefficient for light propagation through a strongly scattering amplifying medium are considered. It is found that just as in the case of an elastic scattering medium the correlation function consists of three terms. However, the structure of the terms is rather different. Angular correlation has a power-law decay and exhibits oscillations. There is no ”memory effect” as in the case of an elastic medium. Interaction between diffusion modes is strongly enhanced near the lasing threshold. Frequency correlation scale decreases close to the lasing threshold. We also consider time correlations of the transmission in the case of nonstationary inhomogeneities. We find shortand long-range time correlations. The scale of the short-range correlation decreases, while the long-range correlation scale becomes infinite near the threshold.

Enhancement of coherent light amplification using Anderson localization

Several aspects of interplay between Anderson localization and coherent amplification/absorption, and aspect of mirrorless laser for a laser-active (amplifying) disordered dielectric medium have been addressed. We have calculated the statistics of the reflection coefficient and the associated phase for a light wave reflected from a coherently amplifying/absorbing one-dimensional disordered diel...

Nonuniversal intensity correlations in a two-dimensional Anderson-localizing random medium.

Complex dielectric media often appear opaque because light traveling through them is scattered multiple times. Although the light scattering is a random process, different paths through the medium can be correlated encoding information about the medium. Here, we present spectroscopic measurements of nonuniversal intensity correlations that emerge when embedding quantum emitters inside a disorde...

Electronic Transmission Wave Function of Disordered Graphene by Direct Method and Green's Function Method

We describe how to obtain electronic transport properties of disordered graphene, including the tight binding model and nearest neighbor hopping. We present a new method for computing, electronic transport wave function and Greens function of the disordered Graphene. In this method, based on the small rectangular approximation, break up the potential barriers in to small parts. Then using the f...

Transmission and reflection in a perfectly amplifying and absorbing medium

We study transmission and reflection properties of a perfectly amplifying as well as absorbing medium analytically by using the tight binding equation. Different expressions for transmittance and reflectance are obtained for even and odd values of the sample length which is the origin of their oscillatory behavior. In a weak amplifying medium, a cross-over length scale exists below which transm...

Light Transmission through Three Types of Translucent Zirconia

Objective: Zirconia cores have limited light transmittance and data are scarce on light transmission through zirconia cores with and without the veneering ceramic.   Methods: In this in vitro study, Disc-shaped specimens (11.5 mm in diameter and 0.4 (0.05) mm in thickness) were fabricated of three types of zirconia namely Mamut, Heany and ZirkonZahn (n=5). A disc-shaped specimen (11.5 mm in d...
